Can shadow work change your life? Yes it can. It changed mine and it can change yours too. While doing shadow work and looking into my past lives, I was finally able to accept myself as I am.

Years ago, I was anxious all the time and very depressed. I had a full time job and three little ones. Life was chaos. I was stuck in the same patterns over and over again, and I had hit rock bottom. It was very difficult to get out of bed to face the day knowing that I felt this way. I had a big fear of change. I am talking big. I like doing the same thing over and over again but I knew this would not get me ahead in life.

One day I stumbled on a book about how to uncover your shadows. Now, at the time, I was not sure I was ready to face them. I am the type that has to do a lot of research into the subject before I commit. Here is the definition I found at the time.

Shadow work refers to the process of exploring and acknowledging the parts of ourselves that we tend to suppress or reject. These may include feelings of shame, fear, anger, or other emotions that we often try to avoid or deny. Shadow work is important because it allows us to become more self-aware, to understand our own motivations and behaviors, and to develop greater compassion for ourselves and others.

Did I still want to uncover my shadows? No, of course not but I knew I had to in order to move forward. I started journaling and asking my inner child questions. One question each day, so I wouln't get overwhelmed with so much information. I love to write, so journaling my thoughts was easy for me as I have been writing for so long.

Some people like meditation or creative expression. that's ok too. Whatever you feel comfortable with. Shadow work often involves identifying and examining our personal "shadow" or unconscious aspects, including our negative self-talk, limiting beliefs, and patterns of behavior that may be holding us back. By bringing these aspects into the light of our conscious awareness, we can learn to accept and integrate them, which can lead to greater self-acceptance, healing, and personal growth.

A shadow work journal is a useful tool for exploring your inner self and uncovering hidden aspects of your personality. To create a shadow work journal, start by setting aside some time each day to reflect on your thoughts and emotions. Write down any feelings, fears, or negative thought patterns that arise during this time.

Here are some questions to ask your inner child.

  1. What were you afraid of?

  2. What was your earliest childhood memory?

  3. What was the most difficult part of your childhood?

  4. Who was your best friend when you were a kid?

  5. If you could write a letter to your younger self, what would you say?

I will be doing more blog writing about shadow work and Soul astrology in my next blog post.
